Custom Development/Systems Integration

Tying business systems together to exchange information has always been a challenge with the advent of ERP (Enterprise Planning Systems) like SAP and Oracle problems continue to persist. VisionStar's staff are specialists in delivering systems integration and EAI (enterprise application integration) solutions to optical enterprises. We allow legacy systems to be put to work in new and exciting ways. Using Systems Integration Services from VisionStar, our customers can adapt their existing systems to support new customer-focused initiatives.

VisionStar provides professional consultants with extensive optical business, optical production, and technology backgrounds to work with our customers in integrating their optical production systems with their ERP systems, order entry systems, and other application software systems. VisionStar analyzes the technical and process environments, suggests practical and achievable goals, and works to a plan that meets the customer's objectives. We take advantage of the growing availability of system integration tools and technologies by using state of the art tools appropriate for each customer. Our industry knowledge, project management skills, and experienced staff have all been proven in a broad spectrum of business environments. Our evaluation of a customer's needs identifies and describes many of the tools, techniques, and issues that are appropriate for consideration and evaluation as we assess an integration assignment.

A typical assignment begins with an assessment and needs analysis. VisionStar then defines the environment including the creation of a formal inventory of current systems, platforms, databases, and data sources. VisionStar maps with the client the structure of current business processes. When this baseline is established, the next phase will specify the integration requirements along with priorities, timelines, data transformation and information flows. Together with the customer, VisionStar will determine the type of integration that will be implemented and develop the project plan including resource commitments, milestones, and schedules. VisionStar provides the staff to develop and implement the system. Working with the customers’ staff, VisionStar will guide and advise the in-house staff to test and validate results to ensure that goals are achieved. Vision Star will train users and in-house staff to maintain the integrated system.

In addition to integrating the VisionStar LMS system with several industry partners, VisionStar has taken on major development projects for very large optical enterprises. These projects included integration with an ERP system for one of the largest optical retail companies in the US, integration with a large Oracle based warehouse system for an optical company that distributes large quantities of optical stock items and integration to multiple state Medicaid ordering and claims processing systems.

System Integration Services include the following:

  • An Account Manager that is the primary contact for the business relationship between the customer and VisionStar for the integration project
  • A defined relationship described in a Statement of Work agreed to by the customer and VisionStar that clearly defines project management methodologies, the project approval process, release procedures, management hierarchy, and problem escalation
  • Participation in the analysis, design, QA testing, and release of customized development projects
  • Coordination, installation and testing of integrated systems.
  • Monitoring of bug fixes for customers including a periodic review of the progress.
